I am looing at buying another vacuum and currently have the bagless type. I don’t really mind it though there is alot of dust produced. I usually blow it out with an air compressor then wash the bag out. After about the 3rd washing it really does a good job with having enough suction. It has been a good setup but a pain to have to do sooooo much maintenance on it. Those of you that have the disposable bags, how has the suction been compared to the bagless? How long can you typically go before you notice a dramatic change in effectiveness? How are they on commercial carpets with very fine dust?
Your comments are very much appreciated.

March 11, 2010 at 3:55 pm #154286AnonymousInactiveYou can replace the dirt cup with the bag type on your conquest. It should be in the store. The bags, if purchased in bulk, are priced at about 30 cents each. I replace my bag every day or more often on the dirty days. The bag system prolongs top suction as there is more filtering area. No dust or odor problems!!!
March 12, 2010 at 4:10 pm #154287AnonymousInactiveWhere do you buy the bags?
March 13, 2010 at 10:46 pm #154288AnonymousInactiveI get my bags in bulk at TotalVac.com. Go to there website, click on vacuum bags (second from top left), click on Hoover and order the type “A” bags. Item 242. Cost is $1.95 for a three pak.
Brian may have a less expensive place but this is who I bought from for my last order.
March 14, 2010 at 7:51 pm #154289AnonymousInactiveI converted my vac from the dust cup to a bag type using the kit from corporate. I buy my bags at a local variety store. I have used both the standard bags, which work well, and the hepa bags that work very, very well. They work amost too well. I can only use them a few vacummings before they clog the pores and do not allow enough suction. I use those where the family is concerned about dust or there are allergy issues. The hepa bags do not fill up as much as the regular bags before having to replace them.
March 15, 2010 at 12:40 pm #154290AnonymousInactivehttp://www.hescoinc.com item # 242-9. This is a 9 pack of after market type A bags. $2.69 per 9 pack. I buy about 50 (9 packs) at a time to reduce the shipping cost per bag. This is the cheapest I have found.
March 16, 2010 at 3:39 pm #154291AnonymousInactiveI just got done with my rant on buying vaccumm bags locally and the benefits of doing so. However, I hit a wrong key and the whole thing vanished much quicker than I can type. I am not in the mood nor do I have the ambition to retype any of it except that it pays to do business with a local business or service wherever possible.
March 20, 2010 at 9:40 pm #154292AnonymousInactiveI changed over to the paper bag a couple of years ago. It was one of the best moves I’ve made from a clean and maintenance standpoint. Where it used to take up to 10 minutes to clean up my vac each night, now it can be done in less that 1 minute. No more dust! I get the paper bags from Walmart at a price of 3 bags for .97. I only fill them about 1/3 full, as the more full they get, the less effective they are. I would never change back.
March 21, 2010 at 2:40 pm #154293AnonymousInactiveI finally made the decision to switch. Ordered the bag conversion from corporate…found some bags at Wal-Mart to get me started…ordered a batch from Hesco, Inc. to get me through the next couple of months…checked my delivery date from UPS…was excited to make the conversion (no more bag smell, no more dust on start up, no more dust from emptying the dirt cup in my van)…waited for the UPS driver…and….conversion on “back order”. 🙁
April 30, 2011 at 6:14 pm #154294Linda OrrKeymasterThe dirt cup is the worst ever! Made the mistake of trying it again this week. Bad mistake. My techs weren’t so happy about it either.
I buy my bags at Sears. The regular bags are $10 for 15 bags. The allergen filtration bags are $10 for 8. I really like the allergen filtration ones. I change the bag after each job. I don’t like to take any dirt from one job to the next, especially pet dander and hair. I use the regular bags on rental move outs and the like.
When you buy on line, doesn’t the shipping and handling make the bags way more expensive?

– # 1034 Vacuum Micro Allergin Bags A type (3)June 28, 2011 at 12:27 am #154296AnonymousInactiveI remove and wash my cloth bag once a week. And i have had no luck with disposable bags. Because they don’t hold much.
June 29, 2011 at 2:39 am #154297Linda OrrKeymasterJust checked out the Hesco sight Brian mentioned. It is deffinately the cheapest for type A bags. I doubt there is anything cheaper.
