June 11, 2010 at 2:43 pm #154429RichParticipantBryan What I did was cut a piece of O.S.B. 10″x48″then at one end put a piece 10″x4 1/2″under the long piece, from the left corner make a mark 7″ down the long side, put a line from that mark to the point on the right corner. From the R corner make 3 marks 2″ apart going down the line the 2nd mark put it 1/4″ above the line then put 2 16penny nails on each mark, cut the one on the L side 1/8″ above the O.S.B. the other cut 5/8″above the O.S.B. so that you have 3 sets of two nails 1/8″&5/8″ high.that’s it. Don’t try to approach it from the left side it will get a little crazy if you do.Wet the dirt napper first then put the buffer on the R side of the board and let the bristles go in and out of the nails. Do it on the drive way because the crap will fly. Wet the area the napper will be spinning on to. Hope it helps. Also you can drive a 6 or 8 penny nail through the face of the O.S.B. or 1/2″ plywood to transfer the nail hole to the bottom.

Take care

We will hose them down with regular garden hose and then use the comb to clean them. After cleaning with comb rinse with hose and done. Sometimes we might repeat a few times if really bad. I think some might be confused on how to use the comb, or I just have been doing it wrong this whole time and got lucky to find that it works. Tip the buffer over on it’s side and put the dirt napper on just like you were going to clean. Turn on buffer and use the comb to clean while it is turning. Warning stand to the side or you will be sorry as stuff comes flying. I found over the years that rinsing it before middle and end cleans much better. This is a more important treason to stand out of the way as you turn it on. I don’t unwind the entire cord when doing this and I have it going over the handle so that when I turn on buffer the cord locks the buffer on. If we are on a job and are in need of a serious cleaning it is off to the car wash. I used to use a power washer, but we don’t have great access to water at my shop, and so this works almost as good.
While posting this I decided that next week I will video the process and post it. TSeptember 13, 2010 at 11:05 am #154436RichParticipantHi Greg basically the same thing I do except I built the dirt napper brush into the OSB and just drive it on. Take care Dan
