I currently run all my CC through quickbooks. We have customers fill out an authorization form and then we run them at the end of the day. The problem is Intuit charges an arm and a leg for this. It seems their fees are endless. Does anyone have any ideas for other credit card processing companies that are less expensive?
February 5, 2011 at 12:21 am #154786AnonymousInactiveSeems like they all charge an arm and a leg. I cannot justify the cost for the few that want to use a card. I asked most of my customers in November if they wanted to use this and all said no, have too much on them already.

Don’t be affraid to call your customer credit card info to me. I can process it for you. We only charge you our cost. No sense in everyone paying the monthly fee.February 9, 2011 at 4:05 am #154788AnonymousInactiveBrian,
I’ll take you up on that next time!!!
February 9, 2011 at 11:45 pm #154789AnonymousGuestHas anyone tried or have knowledge of payware mobile?
February 11, 2011 at 1:34 am #154790AnonymousInactiveNothings cheap anymore. Especially credit card processing.
I use a company called Merchant Services. It’s monthly cost is just under $50 per month whether I process a credit card or not. It includes a portable terminal to process credit cards thru satellites that was included when I signed up. Some companies want up to $800 up front for the terminal. Just swipe the customers major credit or debit card and it prints them a receipt to sign and one for me. The terminal I use is the “Nurit 8000”. They have newer models now. My customers like the fact that the credit card or it’s numbers dosen’t leave there possession.
They also can process thru iphones but I’m not up to speed on that.
They have a credit card rate of 1.45%, a transaction fee of .18 cents, a monthly statement or service fee of $8 and an optional monthly maintenance fee of $9.50 per month. I have had to send my terminal back for repairs twice and it was covered under the last fee. They overnight the new terminal to me and gave me a UPS sticker to mail in the other terminal.
Is just under $50 a month plus the other transaction fee’s too expensive? Not to me it’s not. A majority of my competition does not take credit cards. I think it makes your business more professional to process credit cards. I also push my customers who are moving out of the area to use a credit card so I don’t have to deal with bad checks.
I usually process about 10 credit card transactions per month on average.
Hope this helps.
February 14, 2011 at 8:57 pm #154791AnonymousInactiveThat’s $600 in processing fees per year. I don”t have that many dollars to process in two years. If the demand was there, I would try it but not with two or three customers a year.
February 15, 2011 at 3:35 pm #154792WayneParticipantI used my local bank’s merchant services department to set up my Mastercard/Visa/Discover card processing. Their percentage fee is a little high (3.38%) but there are no monthly fees or other service charges. I only take a few credit cards a month so I think the charge is reasonable and allows me to accommodate my customers who want to use their card.
February 15, 2011 at 4:27 pm #154793HBPuyallupParticipantI am currently processing with a company the charge 0.5% and $.10 per transaction and a $12 monthly service fee. These numbers are type right. They give me a month to try them out before putting me into a contract. I am about 3 weeks into that. The good thing is that I can process it right on my phone. They send you an app to install. It doesn’t matter if its swiped or keyed in. As far as the receipt is concerned you email to them. If they don’t have an email email it to yourself print it off and mail it to them. I will let you all know what my bill was for processing when I get it.
February 15, 2011 at 5:19 pm #154794AnonymousInactiveThat sounds excellent! What is the name of the company? I am paying intuit almost $20 for the monthly fee and then I get hit with a low use penalty of about $18. Also I am charged a daily use fee of a couple dollars per transaction and a percentage of the bill. It is crazy! I really like what you are using. Is there a way I can just run the card online? We dont’ have internet on our phones.
February 16, 2011 at 5:49 pm #154795AnonymousInactiveHere is the info 877-928-0305 ext. 172 Mike Collins Merchant Service Direct or MCollins@msdnw.com. Mention my name because I get a referral credit. I’m not so sure about online processing. Here are few thing that you might be able to do about the phone and the internet. Use the customers wifi if available. That will be of course hit and miss. Get the data packet for the phone and the $15-$30 you might save in processing or switch to sprint all of there plan include unlimited data. I would call and ask.

January 19, 2012 at 12:13 am #154797AnonymousInactiveDoes anyone has a Square for accepting Credit Cards?
They just sent me a mail that they will give me Free Square card reader, 2.75% per swipe, No contracts, commitments or monthly fees.
Thinking about it.
Any comment will be appreciated, thanks.Adrian

There are postings on this board regarding Sqaure as several operators are using their services. There was also an article in the newsletter serveal months ago. I want to say it was the July or August newsletter.
January 19, 2012 at 4:01 am #154799AnonymousInactiveThanks Mark.
Yeah I spoke to Cody couple months ago or so and he mentioned to me as well but, I really didn’t pay attention to it because not a lot of customers asked me if I accept CC. For some reason it’s just happening to me right now when more and more customers are asking me if I accept CC.
It’s always like that, when you have it no one will ask you, when you don’t have it than they will ask :D. -
