Thanks for the info. Mike, I e-mailed & left a message today for her to contact me, thanks again.
February 13, 2007 at 2:13 am #148801HB2003ParticipantSounds like a great opportunity for all of us.
Thanks for the info…
February 13, 2007 at 6:05 pm #148802Larry youngParticipantThere are 2 differnt types where you add somebody onto your insurance. One of them is where your insurance company will notify them if your policy gets changed our canceled wich souldn’t cost anything. (simialer to your ins. on your home) The second actualy covers them, and it does cost. are you sure of wich one they need?
February 13, 2007 at 6:41 pm #148803Bulldog60ParticipantGuys
I think this depends on where you live (State) and your insurance company. My insurance company Hartford does NOT charge me for an additional Insured Endorsement. It’s just a form they send out to the company that needs it. If I understand this correctly the Insurance industry is regulated State by State, it may depend on what your State allows (and the insurance company can get away with). I just faxed one over to a company this morning. If anyone wants a copy to see what they look like I would be happy yo fax it to you.February 16, 2007 at 4:30 am #148804FL18ParticipantGary is right. It is regulated state to state. I have to mention again though, it has already paid for itself. We have been with Capital for 2 weeks now and have had 2 jobs so far. Both those jobs made the insurance money back and then some. Thanks for contacting Monica. She has informed me that about 50 have e-mailed or called. That is great guys and makes her job easier. Remeber, she wants us to be her first choice!!! I received confirmation to clean the Famous footwear today.
L Burkhard. No, they do not require a fee from you. I am sure they get something but it doesn’t come out of your income, only the additional insured mentioned in previous posts.
Hey Blairt, I just noticed your post, that is my invoice number. I will call you tomarrow—2-16-07
February 16, 2007 at 7:41 pm #148805AnonymousInactiveI spoke to Monica today 2-16-07 regarding the requirement of Workers Compensation insurance.
If you are a sole proprietor and if you personally do the work and not an employee, she will accept a statement on letterhead indicating you are a sole proprietorship, do not have any employees and are not required to have workers compensation (assuming this is a correct statement for your state or city).
If an employee is working then you will need the insurance.
February 16, 2007 at 10:45 pm #148806chez6996ParticipantIn Florida it is a little different. In the cleaning industry you can have a total of 4 employees, but must file with W.C. for an exemption. You must have this paper with you at all times. Again Thanks Mike, 2 or 3 of my people have already done the necessary paperwork. This is a form of national advertising that we are all waiting for.
Ron
P.S. Mike I have not forgot your hat, big war down here with correct year on hats, some say 2006, others say 2007February 17, 2007 at 1:22 am #148807HB2003ParticipantThanks for the info on WC Loren…

February 17, 2007 at 1:50 am #148808Bulldog60ParticipantGuys,
Make sure you check in your own State about Workmans Comp. It is completly different from State to State.
Gary
Again thats not my photo but my sons! I’m Way better looking than him!February 18, 2007 at 9:59 am #148809FL18ParticipantLoren, that is correct. If you are a sole proprietorship then you do not have to carry WC. If you don’t have any employess, you do not need WC, regardless of sole prop, s-corp, inc., etc…. Yes Gary, it does vary so check anyways, but if no employess, then don’t worry. We did the letter as Loren mentioned above. R Smith, don’t worry about it Boss man, it is all good. I spoke with Monica and she is happy to have so many of you. Keep something in mind though when jumping on board guys. You could get a lot of work, a little, stay steady with this or have none from them. If in a rural area then I suggest that you may reconsider. It doesn’t hurt to try. I have over a half million in my area and almost every franchise you can think of so it was a no brainer. One thing I don’t like is that a lot of these big corporates that schedule with her only clean once a year and you can offer to clean more often but again, I hope it works out for most of you. Like I said before, we added them to insurance for $125 and made that back on the first job, and now we have Famous footwear to schedule and just found out Friday that another one is coming up due. One more thing to let you guys know is that you all may want to e-mail Monica. It is a little easier for her to respond and answer all of your questions. When I posted this, Heaven’s Best lit up the switch board over there, which is great, she said so her self, but did mention the e-mail as I just stated above. Let me know how things turn out for all of you.
God Bless all of you,
Mike
February 19, 2007 at 5:03 pm #148810hbottumwaParticipantOn this subject, it would be great to list all the company names of the jobs you’ve done and maybe the total sq ft of the job. So we can get a feel for things.
February 20, 2007 at 12:50 am #148811ON02ParticipantI JUST STARTED WITH THE PAPERWORK THANKS FOR THE HEADSUP LOOKS LIKE A GOOD DEAL
February 20, 2007 at 2:06 am #148812FL18ParticipantSo far,
We have only done Naturalizer, s shoe store franchise nationwide. It was about 300 square feet. They paid $125 plus tax. That comes out to .41 psf. There was a few pieces of gum and high traffic was nasty but only took about an hour to do. That is worth it to me. So on the 1st job I paid back the insurance add for Cap-Cleaning.
Next job will be Famous Footwear, another big shoe store franchise, their corporate office wants 450 of thier stores cleaned by the middle of April. This store wants to pay us $250.00 plus tax. We have scheduled an appointment with the manager to go look at it and measure. I hope is small like this last one. If it is not worth 250 then I will decline and trust me, Monica will understand.
So I hope this gives a better understanding to some of you. There is only 1 famous footwear here in South Texas. Some of you in other big cities may rund across 3 or 4 at a time. I know in North Texas, there are atleast 4 famous footwears in my old hometown.
The Naturalizer store had 2 down here, but the other one is brand new and will be cleaning in a few months.
I strongly believe that sometimes you will make more than what you would have qouted it for and sometimes maybe not, but I think it is a good marriage between us and them.
I will continue this post as more jobs come in. I hope some of you do the same. So, so far, we have:
Naturalizer
Famous FootwearGod Bless,
Mike NowlinFebruary 23, 2007 at 2:21 am #148813HBplantcityflaParticipantHello everyone!
I am so excited that this has picked up. I cleaned Famous Footwear about a month and a half ago. Here is how they figure it out. They take the total square footage of the store and figure about what percentage is carpet, I dont , they do. Then they tell me what it is. For example both of my stores were about 5400 square feet. 60% of that was carpet so that comes out to be about 3300 square feet. They pay 10 cents per square foot so I recieved 660 for the 2 jobs. They also asked that I mop the tile. That part was pretty easy. They said nothing about grout lines or expected me to even clean them. So I lightly sprayed and I mean very lightly, the tile and buffed it. Only took a few minutes to do and shined up wonderfully.
When considering this job though remember this: BE PREPARED FOR A MILLION GUM SPOTS. I cant tell you how much time I spent on candy and gum and crap. Had I taken a little more notice of it, I would have renegociated the price. Anyway, if you have any questions, PLEASE call me. If you are not sure if it is worth it, also PLEASE call me. 10 cents doesn’t seem like much and it really isn’t, but it really wasn’t too bad. My cousin and I together made about $100 per hour. Still well worth it. Honestly I have made better money on dirty jobs like those but it was very slow during that time and let me tell you, it looked pretty good getting that check in the mail.
That brings me to another point, make sure that you sent in the invoice THE SAME DAY as you do the work. Capitol Contractors say that they will send out a check 30 days after the invoice comes in. AND THEY WAIT THE FULL 30 DAYS. Stinks, but it is politics. Well I have said enough, Questions? Call me 907-357-6840February 24, 2007 at 3:14 pm #148814FL18ParticipantThank you for your hard work bruthus. We haven’t had to mop tile yet but I did notice that on the work orders. It is not a problem though. Thanks for doing such a great job, you and the guys in Idaho. Monica mentioned you and the Idaho boys. So, again, thank you. You all have opened the door to opurtunity for us to grow as a whole. It takes just one guys. One operator can affect the outcome for us all to obtain work like this on a national level. Hope all is well. Thanks for overwhelming response to all of this.
God Bless,
Mike Nowlin
