Had a new customers son of my call this week said his mother had a bleeding ulser and vomited on carpet and asked if I could clean it for her. I got there right away so I would have the best luck getting it out It was the worst mess I’ve run into. A foot wide by 10 foot long I almost walked away without cleaning it, Thought the CSI guys were coming out. Anyway I used 101 with disinfectant to clean and it all came out, but she called and a few light spots have returned Did I use corect stuff to remove or should I have used blood remover ?
November 17, 2008 at 2:56 am #152993AnonymousInactiveAlways make sure you use cool water, never hot on blood or any other protein based stain. The heat will set the stain and make it very hard to remove. ie why hot coffee with cream in it is the worst to remove
I usually use cool water and extract it out. then apply our 20:1 cleaner and plenty of pads. Rarelyl I need to use blood remover. I think the disinfectant is a good ideaNovember 17, 2008 at 3:16 am #152994AnonymousInactiveOur 20:1 seems to work well on it’s own if the customer hasn’t work on it themselves. I seem to have more problems with the deep blood stains wicking. If you run into one that the blood is saturated through to the pad, flush it out the best you can and then dry the spot with your hair dryer. It’s important to make sure all the stain is gone before you apply heat with the dryer (refer to above statement). The water claw works well for these deep stains.

I have had this twice and one who took their life. (sad)
I have have had to go back twice on two, and three times on the other to remove the wicking. It will look like I got it all, then I buff and it will still wick.
Plan on returning three times, and just figure that in your first bill. This is what I have done since the first experience.November 19, 2008 at 1:14 am #152996HBPuyallupParticipantI had one just recently that was probably about a gallon of blood the lady was rushed out in an ambulance. It took me three trips and about 4 hours. and I wish I had the water claw then. I have purchased it now and use it mainly for the urine stains. I like to use cold water first because its the cheapest. Just like everyone else has said. Yes hot water will make it harder to get the blood out. I never that about coffee that way. Be prepared to come back or at least add that into the price.

November 19, 2008 at 5:48 am #152998Bwaite77ParticipantA CSI scene is an ugly mess. I dealt with a medical scene recently, and it looked like the bottom fell out. (He’s fine by the way)
It’s not my first CSI, and I do have to make a 2nd trip everytime.
There is no getting around it, blood will bleed…April 28, 2011 at 3:42 pm #152999AnonymousInactiveI had a customer who bleed about a 3 ft circle. I extracted with hot water. After it dried i returned and used our 101 to buff area with greet success.
April 28, 2011 at 8:05 pm #153000AnonymousInactiveA caution to remember when dealing with blood is that usually Hot Water will set a blood stain, so a common practice would be to use cold water when flushing out a blood stain initially. Also please take the proper precautions for your personal health and safety when dealing with any type of body fluid.

April 30, 2011 at 7:08 pm #153002AnonymousInactiveMake sure you clean up your equipment well after doing a blood, urine or feces cleanup. You don’t want to transfer any pathogens (bad stuff) to anyone elses home and a poor cleanup may result in a very nasty odor coming out of the equipment.
April 30, 2011 at 10:53 pm #153003Steven WelchParticipantif we have to make a return visit we usually clean again and then protect, it seem like it helps so we don’t have to make a third visit.
May 5, 2011 at 2:59 am #153004AnonymousInactiveWe just turned down a job today because of the amount of blood. She said “it was just squirting out like a hose”. She wasn’t kidding. The worst I’ver seen so far. It was everywhere. I almost always have success with blood, but like the others usually have to make a second trip. Just didn’t want to deal with this one.
We referred her to another company whom we refer business to. (and vice versa)
In the end, all three of us will be happy.
