How much do you guys charge if you had to replace a carpet with a bleach stain of around 2 square feet or if you know of prices that others may charge to do this.
mike it sounds like you are talking about patching the carpet. If so I would charge between $100-140 depending onthe circumstance. Do they have a extra piece or are you having to cut it from the closet and then reinstall the closet piece. Is it in the middle, corner, or near an edge. A two or three sided patch is much easier than one in the middle. For a path that size I would use a seaming iron. A regular steam iron will work with a very damp towel set on high steam, but will take longer.
We “farm” all of our carpet repair work (stretching, patching, etc) out to another local company we have built a relationship with. Back breaking work that unless you know how to do it and have the right equipment (power stretcher, knee kicker, etc), it is not worth it. If you want to learn it, I advise taking a carpet repair class (http://www.iicrc.com).
I’ve been receiving an increased amount of requests for dying carpet. Most are quality carpet/customers with a single drip of bleach on the it or a home remedy disaster. Has anyone researched the dying process in terms of the cost of kit and the difficulty of performing the task?
Cody said he has been working on this but would not put out a method or product that wasn’t the best and he didn’t like anything out there at the time. This was during my training three years ago.
