As mentioned in another post, I just finished a feature to recieve online bid requests via text messaging. Right now, this only is implemented on the bid request form that comes up through the zip finder. It will soon be implemented in the locations map bid request form as well.
This feature is inactive on each operator’s account until they enter their information in for text-messaging under the “My Information” button in “Operators Only”. Put in your number without dashes ei: 2082112222, choose your provider, choose yes recieve text messages. After you hit save, your bid requests should start coming to your phone.
So far it was been tested with at&t edge wireless, and verizon. Please let me know which cellular provider you use so I can add your carrier to the list.
Contact me with any questions, and thank you for your input.
Update: Both the zip finder and locations map bid request forms produce a text message. Additional fields have been added to the form as well.

September 19, 2007 at 11:00 pm #150668tn16ParticipantDavid,
I just added AT&T and Cingular today. The bids should come via text by both the locations map form and the zip finder bid request form. As I haven’t tested with more than just a few carriers, let me know about any errors that come up and I will look into them!

September 20, 2007 at 6:00 pm #150670FL18ParticipantThanks for your hard work Justin. I am an at&t/cingular guy here. I will update on my profile page or info page. It’s exciting to see our company staying ahead of the game with updated technologies. Thanks again for your hard work and we appreciate the time, thought and effort you guys put into all of your HB operators/owners.

Nextel customers may want to choose Sprint instead of Nextel depending on how they are working things after the merger. Please report back on your findings and I will combine Sprint and Nextel on the list if that is what needs to happen. I am also working on the issue currently where the message says that it comes from root4.heavensbest.com or something similiar. For most of you, the message should come from bids@heavensbest.com.

October 24, 2007 at 9:31 pm #150680tn16ParticipantIf the company only has one SMS gateway, the type of service (GSM, TDMA, CDMA, ETC) shouldn’t make a difference. It looks like in the case of Dobson, they have a seperate gateway for Cellular One/Alex Wireless and another for just regular dobson customers. I will add both to the list, but the cellular one/alex wireless should work. Let me know if you run into any problems.
