Inactivewell i have decided to just let the van run in the freezing cold.i have had my pump begin to freeze a few times and decided to let the van run most of the day.i do have a rear heater but when its -15,-20,-30 just let it run and i will recoop the extra money used in gas.if the suns out and it is at least 15 above i will leave it off on smaller jobs.the insulation i put on the inside only goes so far. this stinkin cold weather ,well i have had enough and its still mid january.42 inches of snow already,i have had it.its maui time!!

ParticipantHey Tim,
Got a seminar in Florida on Feb 26, write it off as an expense and get warm!!!!!!!!!!!!! I came from NH and had many a winter like what you are having but I did not have to clean carpets in that weather, I can’t imagine why anyone would even schedule a job in that weather.

I have been doing the same. Where possible, I ask the customer if I can plug my electric heater into an outdoor outlet and let it run in the van. I have a large thermometer in the window of the van so I can see it from inside to make sure the temp is ok. I insulated my van also. I think it helps. But every time you open those big doors it takes a while to get the heat back.

Your invitation is sounding better all the time! I have a couple of competitors that close from Dec. – March. Makes business a little better for us. We are having a heat wave this week. May even see 30 degrees today. Will feel like spring!
