Is there any special tricks to clean berber?
March 27, 2007 at 2:09 pm #149349AnonymousInactiveSpray down your berber alittle heavy and then go to the sink and wet down the pad with water. just turn the tap on and soak all the pad.
then through it down and go to work.March 27, 2007 at 11:28 pm #149350UT18ParticipantI always vacuum very well and definitely use Fast Acting Enzyme and let it dwell for 5 minutes or so. If it is white, off-white or heavily soiled then I always add Citrus Boost to the CLF in the sprayer and I’ve had great results.
March 28, 2007 at 1:37 am #149351AnonymousInactiveDon’t forget to use the dirtnapper to get additinal agitation to loosen the stubborn stuff. I won’t clean berber without it.
March 28, 2007 at 4:33 am #149352Tn02ParticipantI have had better results with the BBC than the dirt napper. I think in my experiences the dirt napper brush has been too stiff. Also FAE as always on traffic areas, I find myself using it more on berber than any other kind of carpet.
March 28, 2007 at 1:14 pm #149353AnonymousInactiveAll of the above and sometimes, especially in the high traffic areas, try a finishing towel. With berber you want to leave it as dry as possible. Wicking occurs more on berber than any other carpet.

That’s time intensive. Are you charging more for cleaning Berber? If so how do you determine?
March 29, 2007 at 12:33 pm #149356AnonymousInactiveIt’s just time management. Many times this procedure will save time in the end. We are not charging extra for berber, however we do charge more for heavy soil every now and then.
March 29, 2007 at 7:44 pm #149357pachecoParticipantI think dwell time is probably THE most important factor in carpet cleaning with ours or any other process. HWE has a dwell time with hot water to some chem and hot water of a microsecond or so…not very long. Our is minutes! And it is an awesome cleaner to boot!
I have taken to cleaning the most difficult room first after spraying a couple or three areas at one time, allowing for more dwell time in the other areas and then returning to the first room and rebuffing a final time after cleaning the other areas…amazing what comes up a second time after giving more time to work on fibers. Patience is well-rewarded in this profession.
Just a couple of thoughts..
March 30, 2007 at 12:08 am #149358AnonymousInactive😀 i would like it if every job was berber.i can clean it and make it look like new .i do not care how soiled ,dirty ,pet abused ,costomer abused, ugly, nasty, should be replaced even.i will use fae,hot water only not warm! then 101,6oz cit boost, quick boost 2 scoops, orange deodorizer 2 oz,hot water, and start bustin it out!that will turn some heads.plus no raking!!dirt napper with bbc, then dirt napper with cotton, then red bristle with cotton, then red bristle with towel. if its ever that nasy i charge for it and they pay for t.we all can look at a job and see if we can perform the miracle they dont think is possible if we know what to do.I i like when they think there is no hope, its lost, but”ican’t afford new carpet” do the best you can! then wow they are so impressed thay either tip you or cry in disbelief,or both! lets ROCK AND ROLL!!
April 28, 2007 at 4:35 am #149359pa22ParticipantWhat pad do you use with the dirt napper. For whatever reason, my area has an inordinate amount of Berber carpet. I have learned to use the dirt napper but am confused with which pad to use.
April 28, 2007 at 5:16 am #149360HBplantcityflaParticipantI have the same question as Ann. I have only used the regular pad because nothing else will fit within the brushes? Hmmmm……
May 5, 2007 at 10:08 pm #149361AnonymousInactiveI use the regular turf pad with the napper. If I need a stiffer napper, I use a older, shorter bristle napper with a thin white pad. Woven turf pads will not fit under thew napper.

Says who? I use that combination on every job.
