Did our first commercial account today and it was a disaster. A local beauty salon wanted their carpets cleaned and was thrilled that HB was back in business in our area. When I went to measure the job was told by the owner that the carpet was made out of recycled tires. Have never cleaned anything like this before but gave it a shot anyways. Two rooms anf 3 hours later the carpets were not comming clean. Tried everything; fast acting enzyme, 101 with citrus boost, dirt napster, plus every type of pad I had in the van. The carpet came out cleaner but not to my satisfaction. Any suggestions?

So were looking at recycled rubber here. Is this similar to what you find on boats? No sure abou that one. Regardless, sometimes you can only do so much. Don’t over do it, might make it worse or have some residue left over from all the cleaners your using. By what you have said, it is clean. Some carpets, not sure about recycled tires, just can’t get back to new. The customer is usually happy if you just try. At least you did your best. I have to walk away sometimes and it is hard. Educate the customer on the possibilities or bring them down to reality a bit. They expect perfection, as well as you but it will not always be the case. I have customers I clean for and I will them, very disgraced, that their carpets are in bad shape even after I did my all. Most of them still say, WOW and are happy anyway. You did your best. Feel good about that. You cleaned to the best of your abilities. Feel good about that as well. My wife has to stop me sometimes before I end up making a mess. Maybe another veteran operator out there can shed some light on this type of “carpet”.

I’ve seen this in the entries of offices and stores. I feel that these areas have gone way too long between cleaning. I also believe this type of material needs (please forgive me) HWE.

Even HWE would be a battle..I have several banks that have entry areas like that, it will kill your wrists and back..not to mention your pads!!!! This was a learning experience and informed the mngr. that we could not help them on that type of floor covering, you see it really is not carpet…! Oh, your very lucky to only have that to be your first frustrating day…be prepared for more..!!
