Does anyone have any advice on pricing RV’s Motor Homes? I got a call to clean carpet & upholstery in an RV but this will be my first one.

    Thanks

    Terry,
I have always charged according to the time I think it will take. So, $80 an (just a sample) X 1.5 hours = $120.

Motorhomes are not fun to clean IMO. They are very cramped (see can’t even use full sized buffer sometimes) and the carpet and upholstery are usually VERY dirty (no walk off area from outdoors to indoors, so you’re basically cleaning a huge entry mat). I try to avoid them, but if you are going to clean one, be prepared to give yourself a lot of time, and charge accordingly (similar to what Gordon said but aim for $100/hr min). Also, unfortunately be prepared to do a lot of extraction work, and make sure you have power accessible (seems like common sense, but something customer doesn’t always take into account when scheduling the job based on where motorhome is parked).

Thanks for the advice, all good stuff (no substitute for experience). I will let you know how it turns out.

I occasionally do work for a local RV dealer when they need help from a professional and feel they cannot or do not have time. I usually charge $90 for the carpeting and my going rate for the couches and chairs. I have done the window valences and carpeted ceiling at times by my hourly rate. I have turned several down that should have been burned.
