I love Angies List. I get great clients from Angies List and work extra hard to maintain my straight “A” rating (hope I didnt just jinx it). Yes, I am a paying advertiser. My ad package works two-fold. It places my business listing higher in the search results. I also receive preferential treatment when a client calls Angies List on the phone. The phone rep will recommend me to clients calling from my area.
Angies List has worked well for me thus far.
What is the cost for this sevice from Angie’s List? Thanks
It varies by location and population. But, you can negotiate a lower rate than what they initially give you. Also, they want you to sign up for 12 months, but that can be negotiated as well. Just need to speak to a person above the sales rep level.
Here are a couple of concerns I have with Angie’s List:
1. Consumers in general have almost no idea that Angie’s List charges businesses for top placement.
2. Do a BBB search on Angie’s List and you will see an endless stream of complaints. For a company that promotes good reviews they have one of the worst records I have ever seen. The home office alone has over 130 complaints with the BBB.I have a bunch of great reviews on Angie’s List so I get a phone call about once a month trying to get me to pay for better placement but when I ask about their complaint history they just say it is because they are so big.
Greg, that is true about the placement part. Funny that you mentioned the BBB. I actually clean for my local BBB office here and was just there a few weeks ago. While there I asked them about Angies List and they looked up their info for me since I was considering trying them. They do have all of those complaint’s, but the BBB told me that Angie’s List was considered a “mega-company” or something to that effect, and that many complaints is common for a large business like that. And, for what it is worth, they do currently carry a “A+” rating. I just negotiated a deal with them for me to try them for 6-months at about half the rate I was initially quoted by their sales rep.
I’ll see if my business benefits from this or not and then decide if I want to continue on with them. I have been with them over two weeks now and have gotten one job through them so far. Time will tell…
