If you have not listed yourself under google places yet I would suggest doing so. For those that have a google local listing this is for you. Google local is the map section that you see when you type in for instance carpet cleaning Folsom. A map section will show up with up to 10 local companies. They changed the name to Google places a few months back. I have always been a big fan of this because it is FREE and we get calls from them. The only problem is that we are a service company and our clients don’t come to me I go to them. We would not show up in other areas and to do it was a pain in the … About a month ago they finally got smart and now offer a way around it. There is a new feature that will cover all locations you service. It looks like this in the set up

Yes, this business serves customers at their locationsFill in every thing you can. Add pictures from the heavensbestads.com site. Add a video from the HB ads site. Add a coupon on the page. The more that you have the better chance of your rankings. Do not just put http://www.heavensbest.com as your website. Put in your landing page or website that will direct customers to you like http://www.HeavensBest.com/greg_miller . You need reviews and they are hard to get. Take some time to have friends and family type up some reviews for you. They need to be done under different email and login address. Goggle likes the reviews and it helps with rankings. Do the same for all search engines like yahoo local and so on. They look at this and it makes a difference. I hope this helps and it makes some sense.

I have not heard of him or his company he works for. WhoKnowsAGuy.com . It sounds intriguing enough to look into it, but the price is on the high side. I will give him a call and see what they are all about. The things that he is including is very important and is just what we all can use. I think that at some point I might hire an employee to take over the internet marketing for me. All most everything that they are going to do for you is free if you want to do it yourself. The problem is knowing how and having the time to do it. Very few carpet cleaning companies are really going full force with the internet and that leaves a big opportunity for us to get in now. It is not enough to have a web site any more. I will get back to you when I find out more about them.
We talked to him again and he gave me a quote for our smallest county, (40,000 households, 60,000 population) for $100 a month, which is still kinda on the high side, but what he has to offer is defintely the next level to internet marketing. One of the things he said he does is he tricks (for instance Google) into showing us “local”. The only thing I can come up with is, he is using some sort of optimization program, which I am going to look into when I get in later. If that is the case, it may be something worth purchasing and learning. I was thinking maybe a few of us going in on it, maybe all chipping in and hiring someone or maybe getting Corporate interested as an extra service. I may do it for the $100 a month, since it is on a month to month basis just to see the power of the program he’s using (IF he’s using one). Anyway, I’ll look into it when I get home, in the meantime it wouldn’t hurt for “you” to interrogate him too 🙂
FYI: This guy may be honest and he may not be. I just get tentative of people that say they use a ‘trick’ to get you ranked higher anywhere on the internet. Sometimes those tricks are not honest and will later on penalize you on search engines. This penalization may be complete removal from the search results.
Side note: Just remember that any company calling you saying that Corporate has recommended them, don’t believe it. We very rarely recommend a company to all our operators. If we do, it usually will be to a few operators first and we would call each operator before the company we are testing calls them. Or if we recommend them to everyone, we would include it in the newsletters (hint, that’s why it’s important to read the newsletters) and we would probably put a link to their website in the operators section of http://www.heavensbest.com.
If they say someone referred their company to you, always ask who specifically, and then call that person to make sure they really did refer the company to you.

I’m not sure if I want someone that makes more than 5 grammer errors writing articles for my website. Unless they have some one that does research and writes articles specifically for you and just you. I wouldn’t even use the same content online that another Heaven’s Best operator uses. Also, I don’t want them using content that they are paying for too, because other website will use that content too. If other websites are using that content, the search engines will see that.

Ok, let me try to reiterate our interest in this offer…
which btw the original proposal of $350 was for a different area,
so we asked for another proposal with a smaller area
and for this size it “was” $150, but we asked to “try” it for $100
to see what it does and they agreed. (as stated in above post)The whole point of us gathering information for this was to
get exposure “locally”, the organic areas would be just a bonus.
(example, google local, yahoo local ect… but yahoo is actually the easiest
for us to get around the local thing ourselves we already know)
As it stands the search engines are making it difficult for us to
advertise “locally” if you do not have a physical address and
corresponding phone number (yahoo aside). This guy is saying that he has a
way to get us shown “locally” as well as the generic areas
(which I stated would just be a bonus) This would allow us to
eliminate purchasing more relay numbers or opening up post office boxes or ups store addresses.

the MAJOR cities is where the bulk of the focus goes, however

the search engines only acknowledge so many areas in the county you service,
I noticed this myself on Google maps especially; this guy is saying that he

They use unique page content, they do not take other material from elsewhere, if by
some chance “you” yourself provide them with something that “you” took from another site
they claim no responsibility which you actually initial on the agreement before they get started.
On that note they have an internal person that actually writes the content,
she will send a questionnaire once the agreement is signed asking questions directed
specifically to us, then, she researches our company as a whole to write about
how we differ from other companies, why we are better, ect….
