Mike,
You may want to check into a rental center before you purchase your own. You can get a small unit for a few hundred dollars and larger units can cost into the thousands. Ozone generators are effective for destroying odors. A smaller unit will work well in a car or individual room. Most will have a timer so you can set the machine and leave it. There are some health risks associated with using the ozone generator in an occupied bulding.
As Cody stated there are precautions that are associated with Ozone machines. If you do decide to purchase one don’t buy a cheep one. Home depot supply and a few other places sell them for $200-$300. These will break and stop working after a few months to a year. They don’t put out a high enough volume to work in large areas. A good ozone machine will run between $800-$1200. We rent ours out to customers for $85 a day/or job depending on our schedule, and convenience for picking it back up. We never leave it in an occupied house/rental. When using Ozone machines the place has to be vacant of all people and pets. If you do a lot of commercial work and rentals it can be a good revenue generator. We probably rent ours out 40-50 days of the year. We have had the same machine for the last 7 years and it just went in for service for the first time($347).
I have one that I use in my home that works really well for pet odors and any other odor from cooking. It is a fresh air by ecoquest. It also has an away mode settings that generates ozone. Its suppose to me good up to 2000 sq. ft. I also use it for some rental properties that i do work for. I payed about 600 for it 5 years ago and just recently had it services for 200. I would suggest it. I believe you can find a deal on one at airpurifierrepair.com.
Thanks everyone for the replies. Any suggestions on what brands to look at purchasing. I’ve checked around my area and have not found anybody that rents them. I’ve seen a few on ebay but not sure what I’m looking for, still researching. Thanks
