In addition to keeping the hoses and recovery tank clean and dry, I also keep a spare red hose handy (just like the recovery hose but without the supply line running through it). When I’m in a customers house I run the extra line from the exhaust port on the UM (located near the wheel) out a window or door. This vents most of the exhaust (and odor) out of the home. Nothing worse than stinking up a customer’s house. I’ve tried orange deodorizer in a pinch however sometimes “orange stank” can be just as bad. 😆
You can also use the exhaust hose trick – assuming it’s not emitting foul odors – as a make-shift air mover to help dry the stuff you are cleaning.
