Just took a half day tile and grout cleaning class. Instructor said the national avg is $1/sq ft. He thought this price included cleaning and grout sealant but wasn’t positive. What’s everyone else charging?
February 10, 2010 at 2:03 pm #153922AnonymousInactiveI just finally purchased the tile attachments for the buffer and extracter. Thought i would see how that worked out before I go in deep with the new setup. I had a job lined up at a used car dealership but they backed out on me. They Said I was too high priced. I was going to charge them .50 to clean,.20 for sealing and 60.00 for carpets in 2 offices. Their was around 750 sq ft of tile.
February 11, 2010 at 9:29 pm #153923AnonymousInactiveWe are charging a $1.50psqft. This is to clean and seal. I will not clean tile and grout and then not seal it to bring the price down. The customer might be happy with the price but in 2 weeks they wont be happy with the job. We charge $1.50 psqft for the tile and grout, wood floor cleaning, cleaning stripping and waxing hard floors ect.

February 16, 2010 at 3:16 am #153925AnonymousInactiveThanks Dave, The only reason Ive been able to charge this much is because we have almost no competition. There is like one other old guy that does it but he charges $2.00 psqft.
January 20, 2011 at 12:09 am #153926shubamsjiMemberI do my pricing at around a dollar per tile for cleaning, and .25 for sealing. beings that the hardest part is the grout lines and the smaller tiles means more grout, and more time and work. its also easy for the client to count their tiles and know about how much the job will be. when it gets to really small tiles 2″ or smaller i will on sight bid these as the price could get out of control. actual pricing is still taken by sqft and then tile size modifies the final price. that being said when i can justify the new machine i will probably go to a straight sqft price as there seems to be far less scrubbing involved.

January 30, 2011 at 6:05 am #153928Steven WelchParticipantwe charge $1.25 to clean and seal. We figure if we are going thru all the trouble of cleaning it we are going to seal it, and after we explain all the time and hard labor to the customer they don’t seem to mind. But we make sure they know that price is for cleaning and sealing so if they get other estimates they know.
February 22, 2011 at 3:43 am #153929schubertParticipantWe do more cleaning than sealing for sure. we have got up to a buck to clean in the past but now we are aroud .75 . whats the best , and easiest way you are applying sealer? we use the grout stick seems to go on pretty good
February 23, 2011 at 2:18 am #153930Steven WelchParticipantwe use a Grout Sealer Applicator Roller Bottle that we bought for i think $4.00 from Lowes. It really speeds up the process and easy to use.
April 3, 2011 at 5:12 am #153931Tim nemethParticipantHow much extra does anyone charge to move furniture off tile floor. Stanley & sears charge .80 per sq. ft. to clean & seal, and a seperate charge to move furniture anywhere fro 25.00 to 200.00. We charge 1.00 a sq. ft to clean & seal, including furniture moving.
April 4, 2011 at 8:36 am #153932AnonymousInactiveI feel it should be handled the same as cleaning carpet. Ask the customer to move as many items that they are comfortable moving and you can handle the rest. I have several sets of “hard surface furniture sliders” made of felt that I purchase from http://www.ezmoves.com . This is the same company that I purchase my sliders for the use on carpet.
April 5, 2011 at 4:48 am #153933AnonymousInactive3 yrs ago started out at 1.50qft but most people wont pay more than .75qft now most are about .50qft I wont go any lower than that it still takes more time than cleaning carpet.
