    I called AmEx to cancel my account with them today. I was fed up with paying $4.50 a month for a statement and $5 a month service fee. Even more upsetting was how much they were taking from each transaction. I called and said I want to cancel because my company is no longer going to accept AmEx. The operator told me about a program called “micro-pricing”. They waved the monthly fees and statement charges permanently (she even credited me back two months worth of charges) and told me they would only charge me 1% of a transaction from now on. I guess they want to keep what little business I do with them going. I would encourage everyone accepting AmEx to call in and do the same.

    Sorry everyone…. I did that last year, and didn’t tell anyone.
    I kept expecting the other shoe to drop.
    So far it hasn’t.

    I called their phone authorization number and they transfered me to the right department. 800-528-2121.

    Well…I called on this today….Amex only offers this for merchants who do less than $2,000 per 12 months in authorizations. So – it won’t work for us (we did over $36k the last 12 months) 🙁
