It has been awhile since I have read anything about health insurance here. I recently purchased some through NASE which I believe Lornne Turner suggested back in 05, it was a good fit for my family. Also NASE does offer some good side benefits.

Has anyone else been fortunate enough to find affordable health insurance?

Den, 4 years ago I went with Nase or also known as MegaLife Ins Co. out of Texas. Do your research and make sure you completely understand all the fine print and mumbo jumbo. They charge a $35/ Mo. membership fee, deductables and coinsurance are very high, you end up paying all doctor visits and more. They raise their premiums faster than you can keep up with. My wife was even denied her yearly female checkup. When we called their customer service it felt like I was talking to a shady used car salesman. Basically, these policies are written to be overpriced catastrophic policies. We cancelled after 2 years. We did our research and found Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Tn to give us (a family of five) the most coverage. They cover ALL doctor visits, wellness checks and ER visits with a copay of $15. Shortly after there was a consumer reports magazine that had a section on best coverages and Blue Cross/ Blue Shield ranked VERY high. After 2 years with this Ins. we currently pay 465/ mo. Hope this helps and Best Wishes in your decision.

Thanks for the info, I will look into blue cross/ blue shield NH this week, sounds like you have much better coverage at better monthly premium. By the way it is now $40.00 a month for NASE membership.

Hope your not involved in all the storms and flooding going on down south!

    Thanks

The NACE program was the best available for the moeney at the time. I had done a lot of research and knew what the financial limits were. I also knew the drawbacks and limitations of that particular policy. Since then I have applied for Blue Cross / Blue Shield coverage that will give my family better coverage at nearly the same costs. Health insurance companies have gotten a bit more competitive recently in my area. I would not have changed anything looking back on it.

We did have the Tornado come thru here in Jackson and while browsing picture postings shortly after the tornado I came across one that happened to have my van in the background….

I had NASE… In one year I lost my apendics (sp) and my wife lost a ring finger on her right hand (horse accident). In both cases we end up paying more than the insurance company did. We now have had Blue Cross Blue Shild of Oregon for over a year, and the best part is we haven’t needed any insuance service since changing! Nase lost and re-found our paper work several times. I would recommend Nase as much as I would gikko. In fact, I strongly would advise against both.

I do thank you for your responses and we have contacted Blue Cross Blue shield of NH and it looks like for the same money we can get much better coverage, we will be talking to them this coming week.

Once again thanks to all and it is great to be part of the heavens best team/family where we can share not only cleaning tips but all around life tips!!

I am less than a year into the heaven’s best family so previous conversations about insurance has never been discussed with me.

Den, your question about insurance makes me wonder why we as owner/operaters cannot receive coverage through the corporate office. If this was offered for every operator I would think the premiums would be lower; however, the cost may be too high for corporate if this was offered.

Does anyone have more background or discussion in reference to previous topics of insurance provided from the corporate office? Please fill me in if you have more knowledge.

    Thank you,

Hey Jessie welcome to the family. I am also pretty new. March is my first full year. I am not an expert. But I believe that if all operators would believe that if all operators joined together we probably could get a really nice discount. As far as coporate, they wouldn’t pay anything at all since we are a self employed. Our only option probably would be blue cross blue shield. But Where I live blue cross is a seperate company from blue shield where as other states they are probably one company the way they used to be here. I don’t know to much of any other larger companies that would be in rural areas. Hope tis helps a little.

My Wife and I just signed up with an organization called Christian Healthcare Ministries. We found the rates for normal insurance a bit extreme and some friends of our recommended we look into CHM. Their rates are extremely reasonable, especially for families. For excellent coverage with only a $500 deductible you pay only $405 a month no matter how big your family is. Could be a couple with only one child, or a couple with 10 children. Our friends that referred this to us run an adoption agency that they inherited and growing up her folks adopted several children and had quite a few of their own, 18 total to be exact. They were always fully covered and never left hanging out to dry by any insurance company. CHM always took good care of them and honored any claims, all for the same payment as a family of 3. We are pretty excited to have found it. For more info visit their website…

Last December I signed up with Samaritan Ministries and I pay a whopping $120 a month…before, with my wife’s policy at work, I was paying $600+/month. My back injuries and leukemia history are not good on the books.

Samaritan Ministries is a Christian-based health coverage system employing solid, Christian principles.

I love it and the monetary savings as well.

A company called golden rule out of chicago is a rock solid company to deal with (goldenrule.com) they offer health plans with different deductables. Something I would strongly suggest to get is a HSA (Health Savings Account) They are perfect for small buisness owners.

A guy in my BNI Group gave his presentation yesterday and talked about Health Savings Accounts. It made good sense to have one.
