I had just cleaned a house today that chemdry had cleaned not even a month ago. they left behind a large brown stain in the basement. when the owner told me it was soda, i was kinda skeptical because soda is a relatively “easy” spot to remove; but sure enough i sprayed down a little pro spot and the stain was gone. I was baffled that chemdry’s cleaning solution couldn’t even get up a soda spill……how weak is that? who knows maybe it whicked back up……but i’ll give us the benefit of the doubt and say they suck. 😀

keep in mind that CD now uses a dual process so it is possbile that they cleaned that room with extration.

chem dry doesn’t use a dual process, they use an RX20 rotary extraction.

    Both of you are right.

Brand-X uses an RX20 (rotary extraction) (a lot heavier than a buffer and are awkward to use in comparison)

After the extraction, using pads seldom if ever, dry the carpet like the low moisture only process does.

They can do a dual process and are supposed to, but rarely do because of the additional time involved. Not only in cleaning but also the time involved with two sets of equipment- in & out of the van. (not very productive for the $ return)

More than likely it was wicking.

    Evan:

I just cleaned a soda spot the other day (previously cleaned by another carpet cleaner) and used protectant after the cleaning. The key is protecting the area after the cleaning (especially with spills containing sugar & oil). I followed up a few days later and the property mgr was thrilled as the spot did not come back.

    Laura,

I am curious if you do that all the time? I never have, since we are low moisture, I have never felt that wicking was likely.

    Thanks.
