hey whats up guys. has anyone ever tried taking burn marks out of a carpet before? some lady dropped a curling iron on the carpet and it left a “brownish burnt mark”. permanent or fixable?
Permanent. Besides patching the carpet, about the only thing you can do is possibly take your razor blade or duckbill shears if you got them and cut away the burnt parts. This only works if the burns are at the tips of the carpet. If the burn is deep, you’ll leave a big divot doing this which I wouldn’t recommend. Ideally, patching it is the best alternative.
thanks for the info. i recommended a patch job. i think she’s gonna go for it. this will be my first. little does she know she might be better off just dealing with the stain 😆
You might look into attending a repair class by IICRC. My wife and son attended and I saw a repair on berber they brought home and could not find from above, only on the backside…
Our son just received his IICRC Certification and is using it now. Will pay for itself 2-3 jobs…the term KA CHING comes to mind.
yeah i was just playin dave. they showed us how to do a patch job in training. pretty easy work. i will look into IICRC for other courses though. thanks for the tip
Having not gone through any repair training at corporate, other than at Las Vegas, I personally would not repair with what I learned and did in LV. It piqued my interest, not prepared me for repairs.
lol…If I was going to do my first repair, I personally would be fully trained and have some practice under my belt before going to cut on a customer’s carpet…but that is just me.
I m not a terrific risk-taker and it takes a while for me to learn.
Practice builds confidence for me…and as I did say Evan, I wish you the best.
