Last evening I did an mt house and they had a kitchen/dining room combo and had used an area rug in the dining area. the grout lines in the kitchen were black and dining area white since they had been covered.
I had made some fresh FAE before coming to the job, and as an afterthought, sprayed all of the kitchen area with FAE. It breaks up goop and gap in carpet, why not tile & grout? White tile and grout of course.
After cleaning the 4 br and hall and lr, the FAE had mostly dried except in the grout lines..but they looked much lighter. I sprayed the HS cleaner as normal and then ran the buffer with the brush and then extracted with the squeegee wand and Ninja and I almost fell over…the lines were not lighter…MUCH lighter.
As I post cleaned and vacuumed and put stuff away, the floor dried and as I was leaving was totally stunned. Looking at the kit and dr…both areas at the same time, it was almost impossible to tell the difference.
This may just be an accident with the planets aligned right…but it might be worth some experimentation. I would encourage the use of fresh FAE, NOT old (over 1 hour)…effectiveness will drop off.
Hopes this helps someone.
