I cleaned a chair yesterday for a customer, and she called me several hours later and said that one of the buttons sunk through to the back of the chair. She wants to know what i will do about it. Honestly, i think it was already like that. Does anyone have any tricks to fixing something like that?

Yeah, inspect the piece before you clean it.

how does cleaning the chair have anything to do with the button sinking into the back of the chair?? sounds like a scam to me. It might be a good idea to take before and after pictures in the future to protect yourself

I’m slow 😕 , so I don’t quite understand what happened. Can you give any more details? Is the button on a cushion? Is it on the frame/body? Did it fall through the fabric and is no longer visible?

I agree with Ron that pre-inspection is crucial with furniture as people often don’t know they have rips/tears/etc on furniture. I unfortunately miss stuff from time to time on pre-inspection, but then notice before I actually clean that part/piece of the furniture and bring it to the customer’s attention at that time. If it aint wet yet, it’s a lot tougher to pin it on me.

all’s well. Her husband pulled it it back through and she was happy. She doesn’t think it was like that before i started. I didn’t notice it. It was on the chair back, and it had sunken through the fabric. It actually looked like it was suppose to be like that.
