We are about to start cleaning T&G. We will be purchasing the T&G package; not the machine. I know we had this training at the HB boot camp, but my memory of it has lapsed. Could you guys explain step by step how you are cleaning this plus throw in some tips of the trade that will shorten the learning curve.

    Ron,

I have not done T&G as of yet, but recently started the woodfloor cleaning. HB has videos on how to do T&G and woodfloors listed in the city owners section.

I talked to John today and he said one thing that he would change about the movie would be they way he applied the sealer. He said that he would put it in a pump sprayer instead of pouring it on. To concentrate on the grount lines. Then taking the excess off of the tile.

Ron, In my experience with T&G, just like cleaning carpet it depends on the soiling conditions. Is the grout dirty from mop water? If so then an alkaline cleaner works well. Does it have permanent staining from being unsealed? Sometimes you can not determine this until you have cleaned and revealed what is going on underneath. The tough areas are generaly in front of the kitchen sink due to cleaning products spilled which sometimes requires the use of an acid cleaner if an alkaline cleaner doesn’t work. To get optimum results on tough cases you must use a grout brush to concentrate on the grout lines. Hope this helps.

I was sort of looking for a step by step explanation of this.

    Ron:

I did my first tile and grout job recently and it came out great! As mentioned above there is a video available, and I followed this step by step and it was quite easy. (Use the sprayer for grout lines) I had my nephew with me and he did all the grout lines with the brush. (big help) The video says it all!

I was amazed at how dirty tile can be, when I first saw the job I thought this is not that dirty, well it was, so be careful on how you price it.
