We come from all walks of life. Before I got into this company, I had this image of carpet cleaners and it wasn’t good! Now, after meeting many, many HB owners, I realize HB operators are the exception. As a recruiting tool, I would like to be able to pass on some of the different vocations our people came from before Heaven’s Best. This could be intersting as well. So, I’ll get it started:

I was a motel owner for 14 years followed by a 2 year stint as a loan officer at a local bank.

    Hey Mr. Ferris,
Kool idea, interesting subject, great info for State owners, and a fun way to get to know each other better.
I was born a poor pig farmer. Stayed with that until age 26. Left the corn field and entered the industrial field. Became a journeyman Tool & Die maker, loved the trade but disliked working w/ people who hated thier job. Quit cold turkey to join an impressive group of people. I’d like to thank Mr. Ferris for changing my life!
Thank ya, thank ya very much!

My wife and I graduated with dgrees in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Texas Pan American. We met at office depot and then my wife worked secretarial work for a year and I was a semi-pro/college/little league/high school umpire. I also did some football officiating. We met Violet Aden through Trish’a aunt and the rest is history. Violet Aden owns Corpous Christi and took me under her wing to show me the ropes. Unlike most of you (I Think) we put all our money, took a small business loan and opened in June 2004. From college graduate to carpet cleaner. Nothing wrong with that. The knowledge of knowing the way people work has helped us grow steadily. Sociology is the study of society and social situations, etc. Without all of you and Cody, John and all those at the corporate office, we would probably be out of business. Who’s next?

I was a thong underwear model. I did a little work in LA and Miami. I wasn’t paid much….I basically worked for room & board

Ok, seriously…just before getting into HB I owned an internet company. We sold designer sunglasses (Oakley, Prada, Ray-Ban, etc). I also worked as an internet marketing consultant.

Isn’t the mark up on those sunglasses like 300-400%?

So,…………….can you still get me a pair?

    Dirtbag,
OK, Fess-up. What the heck were you B4 HB, or does your nickname speak for it’s self?
So, you need some shades? I suppose the sun would be bright after spending the last decade in the cooler!!!!!!!!!!

I currently do HB part time I still work at the local paper mill, Iam the supervisor and the benefits are real good. Between cleaning carpets and making paper it is usally a 75 hour work week. My buddies ask me if Iam crazy but they don’t realize cleaning carpets and meeting new folks in the area is relaxing for me. My family helps and it teaches them about business and people.

I have a Bachelor of Music Ed & a Master of Music degree & have taught music/percussion for over 20 years. Our first business venture started with two Subway franchises, then I bought & transformed a print shop into a “Mail & More” (ups, fed ex, etc). Currently my wife & I still work for the Kerrville ISD, I am the percussion specialist at the high school, and I am operating HB part-time. Plan to hit it big this summer & hire an assistant to run operations in the fall!! Hope to be full-time HB asap – but still enjoy teaching, the benefits, and being with my two kids soon to both be in High School – both percussionists (imagine that….) Getting lots of great referrals and building business slowly but steadily!!

I have a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in biology & chemistry. I have worked as a chemist and OSHA Industrial Compliance inspector and then managed to work for 20 years as either a corporate, Health and Safety Manager or Health Safety & Environmental Manager for several well known international companies.

I got laid off for the last time and will never get laid off again and my one wish is that I had known of HB 15-20 years ago.

    Thanks Cody.

I was over the road driving my own big rig for the man. One cold winter night met up at a local convience store with Bryan Ferris and the rest is history. Had witnessed HB from Bill Newton and realized I could do the same. Wished I had known about HB 15-20 years ago I’d be retired by now and up fishing with “dirtbag” and bragin about the one that got away.

I was in sales for ten years. Four years with Nabisco and six years with a statewide wholesale distributor. Starting my fourth year with HB and not looking back!
