Has anyone stripped and waxed VCT tile? If so, does the Tile and Grout brush drive plate work good on the stripping? And, what works good for buffing the wax?

    Danbo,

I assume you are refering to vinyl tile flooring like those found in commercial businesses and have a high shine on them. I have done vinyl floors for a number of years buy don’t make them the focus of my business. I find the customer wants them done fairly inexpensively and the time and supplies required to clean and refinish tile flooring, (note I said finish and not wax) is considerably more than carpets and thus the return on an hourly basis is considerably less. With that said, I use a large round scrubbing pad (different styles of agressiveness are available)and use a regular drive plate to spin it. When the floor finish is applied, I use an acrylic floor finish, it will leave a high shine if the floor has been properly prepared. I do not recommend or use any type of wax on any floor including wood. Sorry Cody. Wax on wood floors is not fun to remove and the person that has to remove it will have a few choice words for the person that put it on. Personal experience talking here. Buffing on vinyl floors is usually done with a high speed buffer that actually burnishes the finish and brightens it up. Hope this helps, I do get long winded sometimes and didn’t mean to write a book on the subject.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was talking about the commercial type vinyl tile.

Ditto to what Mr Turner said….except the wod issue. Not familiar with it too much yet. He is right on the money with vct. Our equipment works well with a special pad or two.
