Had a manufacturer of a stress ball call us and want us to try and clean a spill/explosion of one of their stress balls in a customer’s home. The customer had his cleaner come over and try and get it out. The customer said his cleaner is not “green” and tried numerous ways to get it out (including an iron, which I assume was a dye treatment). Obviously, the stain may be set in now. The company wants a second opinion before they pay to replace the carpet.

Anybody ever ran into such a stain, and if so, were you able to get it out? Plan on trying the usual suspects (solvents, dye treatment, etc.), but figured it’s always nice to go in with any added info if possible, especially if it shortens my time on the job. Job isn’t till Thursday. Thanks.

Hit a solid draw to the center of the fairway then hit a cut shot to the pin.

Sorry I did not see this earlier. I had a stress ball spill that sat under a recliner for who knows how long. It looked like a playdogh smush. I spent much time with the super spotter and the u-mate. No good results. Many attempts with the dry solvent and it came up nicely. I told the customer that their might be a very little fade mark. She said that was fine with her.She said I did better than the last company (stanley steemer). Remember, the spot looked like it had never been touched when I got there.

Unfortunately, mine had been touched many times….and because of that, nothing we could do would fix the problem. Stress ball spill was yellow and was at times very tough to see due to poor lighting and moisture, but the fuzzed out carpet from all the other peoples’ (renter, owner?, other cleaner?) attempts at cleaning it made your eye go back to it every time. It was a no win situation from the get-go. Once again, always nice to ask what has been tried on a spot before guaranteeing anything, and also good to remind customers to BLOT rather than rub if they attempt it themselves. Feel bad for the stress ball company b/c they are the ones that have to deal with the owner, and he is “one of those guys”.
