I’m thinking I want to upload all my customer info to a handheld, so when we are at Sally and Joe Carpets house, I can “click, click, click” and say “last time we did this, this and this, yes we did protect, it was 17 months ago and the price was $$. I have a note here that says next time clean upholstery”.
How cool would that be? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

I have had a copuple people asking about a program for the pda. Like a suppliment to the computer program.

The more people who show interest in this the more likely it will happen. If you have interest in this, please post a reply here. Tell others about this also, so we have an accurate number.

Please include what type of PDA you are using. ie: Palm OS, Pocket PC…

I haven’t actually purchased the product but I’ve looked at them more than twice. I’d like a product that I can 1) get wireless internet on and 2) one that can/will run the most applications on. I am definitely open to suggestions from those that have used this type of product in the field.

I have a Sony Clie, which is based on the Palm OS.

But it is about 2 years old now, recently i was looking into a pocket PC, like a dell Axim, or the compaq equivilent.

Ron, if your looking for wireless internet and bluetooth and that sort of stuff, then pocketpc is the way to go. A friend of mine has one and he surfs the internet in class all the time.

I just did a search and it looks like the palm’s are now coming with wifi, so they are in a close race.

    Palm:

    Pocket PC

The dells do have vga screens now (640×480), honestly, i would go with a pocet pc, they seems to have better screens built in wireless, and built in media players. My only quabble about it is the microsft OS thats stuck on it…
Overall though, either one will work. Most people i know (friends, mother, cody) all have Pocket PC’s.

If you need anything else, let me know.

The problem here is that no device is available that will act as a Palm where you can install applications (HB software) and get wireless internet. The Tungsten T5 from Palm can run my applications but isn’t wireless capable. I would have to within range (150 yards) to one of there “towers” to get wireless internet. I need wireless internet no matter where I am. The Palm Treo Smartphone can get wireless Internet but doesn’t run applications. Unless there is a device that you know of that can do both? I’m better off just carrying my laptop around with me on jobs.

Verizon Wireless has wireless internet access. All you would need is a Verizon wireless account and the $99.00 network card and a $59.95 a month wireless subscription. This may be my best bet. Then I can run both on my laptop. 🙂

i’ve thought of the lap top thing too. But it doesn’t clip on my belt as neatly. I would like to be rid of my phone and have one device do it all. I know its coming……..someday. having the handheld and a phone seem to be the best compromise I can come up with.

Yeah, but if I get the wireless internet service from Verizon then I can cancel my home internet service and just use the wireless for both home and work.

I would be interested in having this capability. I have only thought about it and not investigated knowing we couldn’t have the HB program on it. If it would come out I would be very interested!

In thinking about what handhelds to use we have to keep in mind that the Heavens Best program as it stands will not work on either Palm or pocket PC. It will have to be ported over. So, i’m trying to see where the market would be.

Both systems can be used as a phone-PDA, meaning that if you get cell access on it you can get wireless on it too. Tell everyone you know to come and post here. If there is enough support for it, then it could be done.

Can I vote more than once?
Actually Tyler, think of the possibilities here. If you could make a generic program, every carpet cleaner from here to Bufo Egypt would want one of your devices

Its not that i would prefer one over the other, its a fact of will Cody put money into making both? I just see a program on one of the systems way more likley then on both. And depending on the cost of making these, it could be on both. I just don’t have enough information about it yet to make an assumption. And you never know, it may be really easy to port it from one format to the other once one is made…

    I’ll keep you guys updated.
