I’d like to raise my prices but I’m fearful to do so. At what point did you raise your prices and why?

We raised our prices on September 1. been thinking about it for some time and now have a good excuse. It’s been 2 years since our last increase. So far we’ve not made a big deal of it and the customers haven’t either. No one has really bated an eye, but we are adding an extra $100-$150 per day@$20-$30/job

We raised our prices in March, after holding them steady for 1 1/2 years. We send a newsletter regularly, and we warned our customers that the price increase was coming. We offered a special “10% off old prices” in that newsletter.

We’ve had some pushback, but not much.

Average job=650sf x 1penny=$6.50 -or- 2 pennies=$13.00. No big deal, most will not flinch. Now, 1 nickle=$32.50, that will catch some off guard(previous customers and previous charge). So, a penny now and a penny later-soon your up 4-6 cents.

Ron- Ive raised my prices because I want to make more, simply as that. I went from .13(in 93) to .25-.30(in04). I look back on some of my first invoices and man was I giving it away!!!!!!!!!

Price increases are a fact of life. Our overhead never goes down and so you can try to absorb it (bad business idea) or you can pass them on to the consumer just like everyone else does. My prices go up once per year no matter what and business has never suffered during my 4.5 yrs. of business. My goal is always in the happiest of customers. Price becomes secondary when we do great work. Customers remember quality work and service long after they forget the price. I say increase you price, be reasonable and fair.
